Minister Micheál Martin recently launched the new website of innovative Irish language company OISÍN.
"These are exciting times for all those who are involved in promoting the use of the Irish language in business. Oisín is a fine example of the many SME's around the country who are providing quality professional services to large organizations and I wish them even greater success in the future" said Minister Martin.
Trading since July 2004, OISÍN has registered offices in Cúil Aodha, in the heart of the Múscraí Gaeltacht area of West Co. Cork. They are currently seeking highly motivated translators and proof readers for the English to Irish and Irish to English language pairing. There are 18 translators working for the Gaeltacht based company. OISÍN has a database of over 500 freelance translators, proof-readers and editors.
The company has a varied client base due to the professional services it offers in a growing number of languages. OISÍN has recently won contracts to produce safety handbooks in Irish, Romanian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Spanish and Portuguese.
'Our translators, editors and consultants have extensive experience of working on projects for many of Irelands' leading companies and government departments', said the young Managing Director.
Irish translation services make up a large part of their orders. Increasingly, however, they are engaged in language consulting for businesses where the focus is on:
- Advice on Irish language funding sources
- Marketing / corporate identity enhancement through presenting in both Irish and English a client's stationery, business cards, website etc.
- Signage / wayfinders in company buildings and on company vehicles
- OISÍN also provides interpreting services in a wide range of languages.
